How we calculate it

Most caterers use the "1 drink per guest per hour" rule, plus one extra in the first hour while guests arrive and toast. We apply your mix percentages, then convert to physical units:

  • 1 bottle of wine = 5 standard 5oz pours
  • 1 bottle (750ml) of liquor = ~16 standard 1.5oz pours
  • 1 beer = 1 bottle or can
  • Ice: 1.5 lbs per guest for a full reception bar

If you're hosting a sober-curious crowd, drop the "% who drink" to 60–70%. If it's a beer-and-whiskey wedding, push beer to 60% and liquor to 30%.
